Hello I’m Nakako
Born in Tokyo, raised in London, and now based in Stockholm, I’ve spent my life moving between cultures, languages, and perspectives. I dentify most as a third culture kid. This background has shaped how I see the world: drawn to the in-between spaces where perspectives meet, stories form, and meaning shifts.
I hold an MA in Visual Anthropology, which has shaped my self-awareness as a creator and storyteller, particularly in how I approach representation, audience context, and the responsibility that comes with shaping stories on behalf of others.
At Spotify I worked across Global Content Operations and Product Operations, supporting the scaling of podcast and video content across global markets during Spotify's most ambitious period of podcast investment, before moving into a leadership role working closely with senior leadership in a 200+ person tech organisation to shape strategy, team culture and ways of working.
,A shift came when I returned to study at Hyper Island as Content Developer, refocusing from operations to communication, culture, and storytelling. Since then, I’ve worked with founders, brands and organisations creating positive social impact, helping them communicate with clarity, purpose, and creativity.
Outside of work, I’m a curious traveler, lifelong learner, and creative at heart. I find joy in discovering new ideas, often from the back of a scooter. I love nature, islands, Yayoi Kusama, and cinema. Lately, I’ve found calm in woodcut printmaking while listening to my favourite albums or podcasts. I often find myself exploring ideas through writing and visual projects.
